 | Our necklaces are made of genuine Ancient "Fossil" Walrus ivory. No modern day animals are taken to make these necklaces. This ivory has been buried in the frozen earth for hundreds if not thousands of years. The ivory is dug up each summer by Native Alaskan's when the earth's surface thaws a few inches at a time in the long Arctic summer days. The coloration in the ivory comes from the different minerals in the ground in which the ivory has been buried. The pieces of ivory are slabs of either tusk sections or teeth. As you will see from the pictures of our products the ivory varies in size, shape and color, so no two pieces are going to be the same. Our fossil ivory comes from private Native lands and is completely legal to buy, sell and trade on the open market in the USA. Ivory sizes for the necklaces range from 5/8 - 7/8 inches tall by 1/2 - 3/4 inches wide. (Larger necklaces are available. Please email us for prices.) Each one comes on a gold filled solder linked chain and is packaged in a gift box for your convenience.
